Mid-2000, I was in a experimental "rock" band called Prepackaged Products. During that time, I had an idea to create an instrument that broke bottles ... the sound would travel through a microphone to an effects pedal ... then the sound is manipulated to create a loop, etc. In 2013, I photographed artist Mac Premo after meeting him at The Invisible Dog Open Studios. Mac had a piece that he was showing called Smashbulb (to this day it's still one of my favorite pieces of art). After photographing him, I introduced the idea of us collaborating on this broken bottle "instrument." Three years later and it's not only completed, but it was shown at The Invisible Dog in May 2016 for their 7th Annual Open Studios and Exhibition. We shot a video (04.13.16) for it that was shown next to the piece on display.
